Opa Echuca Greek Restaurant

4.6 Customer Reviews

Overview

Tucked along High Street, Opa Echuca delivers a relaxed dining experience that feels both lively and welcoming from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere leans into a warm and romantic vibe, especially in the evening when the outdoor seating area fills with groups sharing cocktails, wine, and generous plates from the menu. It’s the kind of restaurant that suits a casual dinner just as easily as a special night out.

One of the standout parts of the experience is how balanced the menu feels. Every dish arrives with plenty of flavour, yet nothing feels overly heavy. The Lamb Cutlets are easily one of the highlights, cooked tender with a smoky finish that works beautifully alongside a glass of wine. The Meat Platter is another popular choice, especially for groups wanting to sample different grilled meats in one sitting. It’s generous, satisfying, and ideal for sharing across the table.

The Saganaki adds a classic touch to the dining experience. Served hot with a rich savoury flavour, it pairs surprisingly well with the lighter sides on the menu. The Chips & Feta also deserve attention because they bring together crisp texture and creamy saltiness in a way that keeps people reaching back for more. Even simple dishes feel thoughtfully prepared here, which says a lot about the consistency of the kitchen.

For something more casual, the Open Souvlaki is worth ordering. It arrives loaded with fresh ingredients and delivers a good balance between grilled meat, salad, and sauce without feeling too messy or overdone. It’s easy to see why reviews often mention the portion sizes and relaxed service together, as both add to the overall comfort of the visit.

Drinks and desserts round out the experience nicely. Cocktails are refreshing without being overly sweet, while the wine selection complements the richer dishes across the menu. Dessert is also hard to skip after a long dinner outdoors, especially when the atmosphere settles into a quieter and more intimate mood later in the night.

Among dining locations in Echuca, Opa Echuca stands out for combining a friendly setting with flavour-packed dishes that feel genuinely memorable. The service stays relaxed yet attentive throughout the evening, helping the entire experience feel natural rather than rushed.

Excellent food and superb service. Booked on the balcony but it was a bit windy so the staff were very helpful in rearranging tables to fit us inside. Food was delicious and not as big servings as what you get sometimes at Greek restaurants. Only losing one star for the dirty window sill next to our table full of dead bugs. Recommend getting on chips to share between two or three, not one each as sides for your main meal. Desserts were delicious and for some reason when we ordered 3 of the pistachio donuts, we got one pistachio and two with a different topping. Still delicious but strange and waitress didn’t know what happened. All in all a good night with a good feed. Not cheap though.

So great to get a taste of Greece like this in a country town. From the welcome to the final bite, this was awesome. Saganaki perfect, and seafood pasta was loaded. Even the olive oil was outstanding. Thanks Maria and crew.

Flavoursome food with a good selection. Selection of dips and bread are delicious. Salt and pepper calamari was a highlight. The kids menu is overdone and won’t suit fussy eaters. Staff were attentive and friendly. Venue was clean and inviting

Truly authentic Greek cuisine. We started with the saganaki, chargrilled octopus and chicken skewers. The service was quick and friendly.

Took the family to this restaurant this weekend, and let me tell you, it’s a place you don’t want to miss. The food was outstanding some of the best I’ve had in a very long time. You can tell they’re using quality , from the meats to the seafood. We ordered the moussaka with goat shoulder ragu, and it was phenomenal, full of flavour. The Wagyu scotch fillet was another hit, cooked just right, and the sides especially the beetroot salad were spot-on, too. The service was great, the staff were friendly, kept an eye on our table, and had solid recommendations. The place was buzzing, a bit loud for my taste, but it had a good energy to it. Already looking forward to the next visit.

Amazing experience in Echuca! As a Greek travelling from home to Australia this was the most greek I could get! Maria and Nikos are more than welcome and extremely sweet to be around. Xenia, the amazing dancer from Greece, lead a traditional Ikariotiko dance and I followed. The food was amazing and the desserts as greek as they could be (bougatsa and loukoumades)! It was an ultimate pleasure to meet you all.

Opa Greek Tavern, Echuca We went with friends and my son, and had the most wonderful night. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so welcoming and made us feel completely at home. The food was absolutely delicious fresh, authentic Greek flavours bursting from every dish. The grilled lamb and saganaki were standouts, and the desserts were the perfect finish. The atmosphere was lively and full of that warm Greek energy laughter, great music, and a real family feel. Service was friendly, attentive, and genuine throughout the evening. It’s the kind of place where you instantly relax and just enjoy the moment. We’ll definitely be back a true Echuca gem that makes you feel like you’re in Greece for the night!
